Nutrition & Fueling for Gymnasts
RD, LDN, MPH, CSSD · Registered Dietitian · Board-Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics · Board member, Gymnastics Medicine · USA Gymnastics clinician
Before becoming a sports dietitian, Kerry spent years in the gymnastics world as both a competitive gymnast and a coach. She understands the demands of the sport because she's lived them. When she talks about fueling gymnasts, she's drawing on both professional expertise and firsthand experience, not just what she learned in school, but what she experienced in the gym.
She founded Food for Fuel in 2019 and has since worked with thousands of gymnasts, from compulsory levels through to elite, along with their parents and coaches. Her work runs on a framework she calls the TEAM Method: a four-part approach built on personalized assessment, education, flexibility, and mindset, so the plan fits the gymnast in front of her rather than a generic meal plan.
Kerry's approach goes way beyond meal plans. She helps gymnasts and their families understand how nutrition supports performance, recovery, growth, and long-term health while building confidence around food along the way. Her goal is to help young athletes develop fueling habits they can trust through long practices, competition season, growth spurts, injuries, and every stage of their gymnastics journey. We partnered with Kerry because nutrition is one of the biggest sources of confusion for gymnastics families, and every athlete deserves practical, evidence-based guidance they can feel confident following.

of gym parents told us they'd value more resources or expert advice on nutrition for gymnasts.
If you have ever stood in the kitchen wondering whether they've eaten enough to get through a long practice, you are in good company. In our survey, only about one in three parents felt confident in their nutrition knowledge. Closing that gap, in plain and practical language, is exactly what Kerry brings to GO.
Alongside her work with GO, Kerry supports gymnasts and their families directly through her own practice, Food for Fuel. Here's what that can look like.
Individual fueling support built around their schedule, their growth, their food preferences, and their goals, using Kerry's TEAM Method: assessment, education, flexibility, and mindset.
Practical help so your gymnast feels confident and unstressed around eating, not just for a season but for the long haul of the sport.
Fueling that meets the real demands of training, so they have the energy to train well, recover properly, and grow strong through the years.
Kerry also works with whole teams and coaching staffs, from her Fueled Gymnast Academy to nutrition talks and workshops for gyms.

About Kerry's contribution. Kerry works with GO as an independent expert collaborator and continues to run her own practice, Food for Fuel. Her input and expert sign-off focus on nutrition and fueling for gymnasts. Topics such as judging, sports psychology, and injury sit with GO's other specialist contributors. All GO nutrition content is general and educational and does not replace individual advice from your own dietitian or doctor for a specific gymnast. Kerry is US-based and registered in the United States; where guidance is region-specific, it is clearly labeled.
